What a quote has to spell out
- A fixed written price: materials, labour, clearance and disposal in one figure, with any gates itemised separately.
- Posts specified properly: the material, the depth and whether they are concreted, spurred or bolted down, written down rather than assumed.
- Treated timber: pressure treated, not dip coated, with the guarantee period stated.
- Gravel boards: included by default, because the base of a fence is what decides its life.
- Clearance included: old panels, rotten posts and buried concrete removed under proper waste carrier cover.
- Honest advice on repair against replacement: if half the run is sound, the quote should say so.
