Fencing in Yarm
Fencing across Yarm's TS15 postcodes: long boundaries on the larger houses off the High Street and out at Kirklevington, conservation area sensitivity in the old town, and exposed new build plots where post depth decides how long a fence stands.
Long boundaries, quoted per metre
Yarm's plots are among the biggest on the patch. Rear boundaries of 25 to 40 metres are common on the houses off the High Street, along Green Lane and out towards Kirklevington and Egglescliffe, and at that length the per metre options make more sense than counting bays. Closeboard at £45 to £70 a metre and composite at £90 to £140 are both regularly quoted here, because when a boundary is that long nobody wants to redo it in eight years.
The conservation area and the old town
The historic core around the High Street and the Georgian frontages sits within a conservation area, where permitted development rights for boundaries are commonly restricted and the look of a fence or gate matters to more people than just you. Brick and stone walls dominate, so the work is often gates, infill panels and screens rather than full runs. Check with Stockton Council before ordering, and read the height and boundary guide for how the limits work.
New builds and the wind
The newer developments on the edges of the town sit open to the fields, and the developer's original boundary is often the thinnest specification allowed. Those are the fences that come down first. Replacing them properly, concreted posts, gravel boards, and either hit and miss or closeboard, is a job that comes round three to five years after handover across the whole area. The cost guide shows what the upgrade costs over a typical Yarm boundary length.
