Fencing in Thornaby
Fencing across Thornaby's TS17 postcodes: 1950s and 1960s estate gardens with regular plot widths and level ground, older boundaries around the Village and Mandale, and repair work that often beats replacement on runs that are only half gone.
Estate fencing at its most standard
Most of Thornaby's housing went up between the 1950s and the 1970s, and the gardens reflect it: rectangular plots, level ground, six to ten bays across the back, with a van able to get within a reasonable carry. That is the cheapest set of conditions for fencing, and quotes across Stainsby Hill, Harrowgate Lane, Bassleton and the Mandale estates should sit in the lower half of the £60 to £100 a bay range unless something unusual is in the way.
Repair or replace
Because these boundaries have been replaced piecemeal over decades, many Thornaby runs are a mix: a few bays from five years ago, a few from fifteen. The right answer is often not a full replacement. If fewer than a third of the posts have gone and the panels still have life, post repairs from £80 and a couple of new panels keep the garden secure for a fraction of the cost. A quote that walks the run and tells you which is which is worth having.
The Village and the older streets
Around Thornaby Village and the green, plots are older and less regular, with brick walls, established hedges and gates that matter more than panel runs. Access is tighter, and boundary ownership questions come up more often on plots that have been divided over the years, so it is worth checking the deeds before ordering. The boundary guide explains how to read a title plan, and the cost guide carries the 2026 figures.
